    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed on Friday (December 6, 2024) with his Syrian counterpart the security developments in Syria and ways of joint cooperation, while the latter stressed that the latest developments pose a serious threat to the security of the region as a whole.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that its Minister Fuad Hussein received the Syrian Foreign Minister, Bassam Sabbagh, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, and during the meeting the security situation and developments in Syria were reviewed, where Fuad Hussein expressed Iraq's deep concern over these developments, noting that "Iraq is following the developments in Syria with great interest due to their direct impact on the security and stability of the region."
For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister explained that "the concern is shared between the two countries," stressing that "the current developments may pose a serious threat to the security of the region as a whole."
According to the statement, the two ministers stressed "the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between the two countries to avoid repeating previous experiences and work to protect regional security, in a way that ensures the stability of the region and serves common interests."
