With the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, is witnessing a clear growth in the car market, as international companies head to Iraq via Erbil by appointing exclusive agents or opening branches in the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
“Erbil is witnessing remarkable development, as it is progressing every time I visit it again, in addition to the good treatment from business owners and those we met,” said Terry Sabbagh, CEO of Nissan, at a press conference on the occasion of announcing the company’s exclusive agent in Iraq.
He added, "The Iraqi market is very important and in the near future we will have a greater presence in the market to meet the needs of customers."
For his part, academic Kazem Yawar said, “It is very important for international companies to be interested in the Iraqi market and enter it through the city of Erbil in particular and the Kurdistan Region in general. This is due to several reasons, including the facilities provided in the region, the favorable environment, and the economic and security stability.”
He added, "The difficult conditions in the region and the accelerating tensions greatly affect the economic aspects, and there are countries that were of interest to international companies, but due to the tense situation there, the interest has become greater in the Iraqi market, especially the market in the Kurdistan Region, from which products are transported to the rest of the Iraqi governorates."
There are many international car companies in the Kurdistan Region, especially Japanese, German, Chinese and others, which have agents in the city of Erbil and supply the car market with the latest products.
