Diyala Council member Aws Al-Mahdawi revealed today, Saturday (December 7, 2024), the truth about the re-operation of the largest gas station in eastern Iraq.
Al-Mahdawi said in an interview, “The Mansouriya gas station in eastern Iraq, which produces more than 600 megawatts, is still out of production due to the lack of gas to operate it for more than two months.”
He added, "The news about its start-up as reported by social media platforms is inaccurate and the station is still out of service awaiting supplies of gas imported from Iran."
Al-Mahdawi pointed out that “the more the temperatures drop in Iran, the more difficult it becomes to supply additional quantities to Iraq due to the urgent need to cover its internal needs, which means that any future supplies may be less than what was agreed upon, and thus the electricity crisis may remain in some areas due to the burden that imported gas represents on the quantity of electricity produced at the country level.”
Al-Mansouriya station is the largest power generation station in the eastern sector of Iraq and is being implemented by a French company.
