    [size=45]The four Iraqi presidencies affirmed, in a meeting with the State Administration Coalition forming the government, today, Sunday, their respect for the choices of the Syrian people, hours after the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime by the armed opposition.[/size]
    [size=45]A statement by the Presidency of the Republic stated that “the meeting was attended by President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Faeq Zidane, in addition to leaders of the State Administration Coalition.[/size]
    [size=45]During the meeting, the developments in Syria and their security and political repercussions on the security and stability of Iraq and the entire region were discussed, as well as following up on the conditions of Iraqi nationals in Syria and the necessity of ensuring a safe return for those who wish to do so.[/size]
    [size=45]The attendees reviewed the measures taken to secure Iraqi territory from any possible repercussions of what is happening in Syria, and the importance of intensifying security efforts on the Iraqi-Syrian border and supporting the government’s measures to protect border security was emphasized.[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting reassured the Iraqi people that security measures have been taken in advance and are sufficient to preserve the security and safety of citizens from any urgent threats.[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting affirmed Iraq's firm position on the necessity of preserving Syria's unity, security and stability, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Syrian territory and the choices of the Syrian people to live in safety and peace, and calling on the international community to exert efforts to support serious stability in the region.[/size]
    [size=45]The attendees stressed that the Iraqi political position is unified towards regional developments and that a roadmap has been drawn up to define the relationship between Iraq and Syria. The meeting called for intensifying contacts with Arab and friendly countries.[/size]
