The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is studying the establishment of factories and production lines to employ workers and create job opportunities for the unemployed, by investing the money of the Retirement and Social Security Fund. The
ministry’s spokesperson, Najm Al-Aqabi, told Al-Sabah: “The ministry is working according to a clear and integrated strategy that addresses the axes of the government program, in combating unemployment and providing job opportunities for young people, training and qualifying them to enter the labor market, supporting the private sector by legislating the Retirement and Social Security Law for workers, supporting the poor and vulnerable groups, combating child labor, and others.”
He pointed out that "the ministry is currently studying the investment of the pension and social security fund's funds to establish national factories or production lines that contribute to employing workers, qualifying job seekers and integrating them into the labor market, in a way that achieves material benefit for the beneficiaries of this fund and reduces the phenomenon of unemployment," noting that "creating decent job opportunities for young people in light of the economic challenges facing the labor sector in the country is a primary goal of the ministry through coordination with the public and private sectors."
