Establishment of departments specialized in the railway sector

The Ministry of Transport is coordinating with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to create specialized departments in colleges and universities in the field of the railway sector, especially since the country is about to embark on important strategic projects in this field, most notably the Development Road Project.
Director of the Ministry's Media Office, Maitham Al-Safi, told Al-Sabah that "the ministry has prepared a plan to prepare intermediate and technical cadres to work in the field of the railway sector, as the Railway Institute will be reopened after its complete rehabilitation, while it will coordinate with the Ministry of Education to study the possibility of opening departments specialized in studying railways in colleges and universities, in line with the development that Iraq will witness in this field, the most important of which is the Development Road Project and the (Basra-Shalamcheh) railway line." He pointed out that "work is ongoing to develop the railway sector and provide specialized cadres by involving workers in specialized courses, and coordinating with international companies for the purpose of exchanging experiences in this sector."
