Voting on controversial laws expected to be postponed

MPs from different blocs expected that voting on the controversial laws would be postponed until the next legislative session, calling for consensus on them before including them on the parliament’s agenda.
The most controversial laws are: general amnesty, personal status, and the return of real estate.
Member of Parliament Hussein Mounes told Al-Sabah: “The vote on these laws was not completed due to the lack of consensus among the representatives, as there was an agreement between the political blocs to pass them in one basket, while there was parliamentary rejection of such a project, as they are important and fateful laws.”
For his part, Member of Parliament Zuhair Shahid Al-Fatlawi told Al-Sabah: “There is a parliamentary rejection of what is happening in the Council when voting on laws, which require that they be in one basket.”
Al-Fatlawi explained that "these laws will be voted on at the beginning of the next legislative session."
In turn, Member of Parliament Nahal Al-Shammari expected that "if these laws are not voted on in the next legislative session, they could be postponed to the next session." As for Member of Parliament Ali Al-Mashkoor, he expressed his regret that everyone adopted the principle of passing the three laws in one basket, indicating that their discussion would be postponed until after the legislative holiday.
