    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kadhimi, revealed the government's desire to keep the retirement age at 60 years in order to provide job opportunities for young people and inject new blood into government institutions.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Kadhimi pointed out that "there is a parliamentary trend and popular pressure to reconsider the retirement law, proposing raising the service age to 63 years, in order to support the financial revenues of the National Retirement Authority by continuing retirement deductions."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Kadhimi stressed that "the proposed amendments will not be limited to a specific category, but will include all employees who reach the age of sixty."[/rtl]
[rtl]He explained that "the Iraqi workforce is facing a shortage of expertise due to the cessation of government appointments in recent years, which makes it vital to maintain the competencies that have accumulated long experience." He added that "referring this group to early retirement will increase the gap between the younger generations who lack practical experience."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Kadhimi pointed out that "extending the retirement age will enhance the pension fund's revenues through the continued contributions of employees," adding that "Iraq is in dire need of the expertise possessed by senior employees to transfer it to the new generation, which will contribute to the stability of government institutions and improve their performance."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Kadhimi stressed that "the best solution to provide job opportunities for young people lies in activating the private sector instead of continuing to rely on government appointments, which contributes to reducing pressure on the state's general budget."[/rtl]
