[rtl]The administrative undersecretary of the ministry, Mahdi Sahar, said, “The availability of water in the agricultural sector is considered one of the most important challenges facing agriculture in Iraq in general.”[/rtl]

[rtl]He added that "there are several measures taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water Resources in order to sustain the work of the agricultural sector and its production, through the establishment of the Modern Irrigation and Mechanization Technologies Project in the Ministry of Agriculture, starting from its establishment in 2010 until 2022, where approximately four thousand modern systems were distributed covering an area of (400) thousand dunums," noting that "in 2023 and 2024, the current government allocated more than (800) billion dinars to the Modern Irrigation Technologies Project, and a contract was signed to purchase 12 thousand systems to cover one million dunums."[/rtl]

[rtl]Sahar explained that "the agricultural areas that will be covered by modern irrigation systems amounted to one million and (400) thousand dunums," noting that "these systems will be supported by 30% for farmers and for a recovery period of up to 10 years, in addition to the fact that wheat will be purchased from farmers who rely on modern technologies at a price of (850) thousand dinars per ton, which is a price higher than wheat in the irrigated areas."[/rtl]
