    Independent politician Aid Al-Hilali hinted on Friday at the possibility of extending the presence of US forces inside Iraq despite the existence of an agreement between Baghdad and Washington for these forces to leave in the next two years.
    Al-Hilali told Al-Maalouma, "The agreement between Baghdad and Washington was clear, and it set a date for the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq next year, with part of these forces remaining in the Harir base with the aim of providing logistical support to the American forces present in Syria, with these forces also leaving in 2026."
    He added, "There is a paragraph that has been included in the agreement between Baghdad and Washington that relates to the situations and challenges that may occur, which may lead to extending the stay of these forces inside Iraq."
    He said, "The agreement is still ongoing and there is communication between Al-Sudani's team and Trump, and there are many things that the future may talk about, especially since the scene is still complicated in light of the developments witnessed in the region." End 25N
