Minister of Trade: We have a strategic stockpile and the food basket is fully secured

{Local: Al Furat News} Minister of Trade Athir Al Ghurairy confirmed today, Friday, that the Ministry of Trade has a strategic stockpile, indicating that the food basket is fully secured.
Al-Ghariri said in a press statement that “the Ministry of Commerce has bid farewell to the first aspect or part of its work, which is food security, by achieving food security, which is no less important than security on the ground. We have a strategic stock of all food items, especially wheat crops,” noting that “previously, two or three years ago, the ministry was hoping for the emergency stock to reach three months, but currently it has a strategic stock that exceeds the ceiling of the quantities set for six months.”
He added that "the food basket and other materials are fully secured, and in the event of any emergency, the food situation is completely safe," stressing that "the Ministry of Commerce is keen to ensure that there is stability in the markets, and does not allow any increase in food prices at all."
