    Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament announced recover billion of frozen funds in a number of countries, and added that the government is seeking to recover what was left.

    The Committee confirmed that the second legislative term will activate smuggled money and frozen file, and mechanisms recovered in coordination with the concerned authorities. 


    A source in the Parliamentary Integrity Committee that «the Commission has a lot of evidence and documents that attest to the involvement of political figures in the previous government (the government of Nuri al-Maliki) smuggling billions of dollars abroad and those documents will be submitted to the competent courts to decide where».


     He added that «the concerned authorities are now working to restore the funds are present in Lebanon is estimated at two billion dollars, were found in the basement, as well as the restoration of the funds in Oman».

    A member of the committee MP Haitham al-Jubouri: «Iraq has frozen heavily in a number of international banks and funds, the proceeds of operations was carried out by the former regime for many years», and stressed that «the committees formed to recover those funds». And «what has been recovered so far only billion was transferred to the state treasury».

    He added that «the government, represented foreign affairs, justice and finance ministries, and in collaboration with the financial, legal, parliamentary committees and integrity, seeking to recover the remainder of the funds, especially with Iraq needed to bridge the budget deficit, through the formation of specialized committees of lawyers and experts». He explained that «these funds may not be monetary but also real estate, so you need to internal and external unremitting efforts».

    According to a member of the Legal Committee MP Salim Shawki told «life» that his committee «will look after the legislative recess at the end of the money smuggled files and frozen, according to the legal mechanisms related parties are required to return them.»


     And Abizaid: «will be limited to those funds and real estate after the presentation of evidence and documents that prove its ownership or seized illegally and it is not limited to money smuggled days of the former regime only». He pointed out that «Iraq represented mobility diplomatic efforts contributed to the restoration of some of the smuggled money. The work carried out to restore all of the money. »

    He explained that «the majority of smuggled money invested in real estate recorded fictitious names and the names of other relatives and this is a legal dilemma strive to overcome them». He expressed the hope that the «contribute to the openness of Iraq and the Arab World peripheral to facilitate the recovery of such funds».

    Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, said the appearance of Mohammed Saleh said that «the current year will witness the resumption of the Iraqi effort - an international to recover all the money that was seized illegally», pointing out that «the government and the Committee for a refund, that needed to large international effort of lawyers and consulting firms worldwide and institutions to investigate them », adding that« Iraq has a lot of money has been seized illegally during the past thirty years ».

    makes you wonder exactly what else maliki might have done? and why isn't he in jail, or is he in jail?
