Post by Neno Sat 21 Feb 2015, 10:44 am

OK, I am over 50 now, can anyone tell me the good for being a AARP Member? Read one thing that kinda I don't like and that is having a Representative in Washington, anything to that? Just asking you guys in hope for a reason for my decision to or not too... TY in advance.

They are a huge lobbying group for the left...if that's your persuasion, you might be happy!

i don't care for aarp, checked into their car insurance and it was way too overpriced, you get a 10% discount at certain restaurants and hotel/motel's but other than that not much.so i let my membership expire. once you get grey hair most places will give you the 10% discounts anyway.

AARP Membership? Empty Re: AARP Membership?

Setting politics aside, I found that for the price of membership you basically get nothing.  Their prices for insurance is higher than most, their vacation deals are no deals, the discount on glasses etc ...is not much of a discount.  It's not something that you couldn't get elsewhere without having to be a member.  I think a lot of people are making a lot of money off of seniors who think AARP stands for something.  As a noted singer once said" If you stand for nothing you fall for everything"  paraphrasing slightly, but you get the point.  They don't give what they use to when their reputation meant something. They stand for nothing.
