10,000 refugees entered Macedonia in 24 hours
A surge of refugees entered Macedonia at the weekend, with 10,000 crossing into the Balkan country in the 24 hours to 6:00 pm (1600 GMT) on Sunday, police said Monday.
Humanitarian workers in the field said that the influx of people from Greece continued to be high until around midnight, when the numbers started to decline.
Police figures were not yet available for Sunday evening onwards.
