Egypt's Red Sea governor Ahmed Abdulla visited injured tourists in Hurghada's hospitals and proposed them five year of free vacations, according to local media.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Egypt's Red Sea governor Ahmed Abdulla has pledged five year of free vacations to the injured victims of Friday's extremist attack in the resort city of Hurghada, local media said Saturday.
The governor also visited injured tourists in Hurghada's hospitals. The proposal was reportedly well received by the tourists, who resolved to return to the Red Sea next year.
On Friday, unidentified men attacked the Bella Vista Hotel on the Red Sea coast, armed with knives and a signal gun. Three foreign tourists, two Austrians and one Swede, received minor injuries during the attack, according to Egyptian authorities. Egypt's security forces managed to neutralize the attackers, killing one and injuring another.
Earlier Saturday, Egypt's Tourism Minister Hisham Zazou vowed to introduce additional measures to ensure the safety of tourists staying in the country.
Another attack against foreign tourists took place Thursday in Giza, in close proximity to the Egyptian pyramids, with no reported injuries. On Saturday afternoon, two unidentified assailants killed a police officer and a recruit in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.
