Turkish tourism which has not yet had time to recover from the impact of Russian sanctions has now lost its German clients, the newspaper reported.
After the terrorist attacks in Istanbul, during which at least ten German citizens were killed, the German Foreign Ministry has advised travelers to "temporarily avoid" crowded public places and tourist attractions in Turkey.
Quite naturally, the third terrorist attack in six months negatively affected the tourist industry of the country, the newspaper wrote.
"Terrorism is now increasingly directed against tourists. It has acquired a new dimension," Martin Lohman, a German tourism expert, said.
According to statistics, Germans constituted the largest part of Turkey's visitors, with more than four and a half million Germans visiting the country in 2014.
Russian tourists ranked second, but after the incident with Russian Su-24 fighter jet and subsequent Russian sanctions, they were encouraged not to visit Turkey for their holidays, especially after charter sales were suspended and a visa regime between the two countries introduced.
According to the newspaper, a series of misfortunes that have occurred in the Turkish tourism industry will negatively affect the entire country's economy.
"Tourism is an extremely important sector of the Turkish economy and a major source of foreign currency," the newspaper quoted expert of the German Society for International Cooperation Martin Simon as saying.
