Narrating a new MSNBC "Lean Forward" spot, the Tulane professor laments that we in America "haven't had a very collective notion that these are our children." "[W]e have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to their communities," Harris-Perry argued.

On March 23, my colleague Mark Finkelstein noted how MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry considers the unborn child a "thing" which takes a "lot of money" to "turn into a human," costing thousands of dollars to care for each year of his/her life. Now it appears that Harris-Perry thinks that, after they're born, children fundamentally belong to the state.

"Once it's everybody's responsibility and not just the households, then we start making better investments." By "investments," of course, Harris-Perry means things like spending "as much in public education as we should have."

Of course, if as Harris-Perry holds,"[t]he cost to raise a child [is] $10,000 a year up to $20,000 a year," and if children should be viewed as collectively "owned" by "society," then taken to its logical extension, a woman's choices about having a child should be informed by the economic considerations of the "community," would it not? But of course, that logic would take someone to justify, for example, the "one-child" policy in Communist China.

What's more, the notion of collective responsibility for children was a philosophy that undergirded the Cultural Revolution in Communist China under Chairman Mao. I bring that up because, as you may recall, another Harris-Perry "Lean Forward" spot contains a reference to a "great leap forward," which calls to mind the disastrous agricultural reform plan which starved millions of Chinese to death in the 1950s.

I have never taken a penny of welfare and raised all my kids with the sweat off my own doings and of coarse with God's Blessings. And her figures are wrong, as society has changed the cost of MOM and DAD to raise their kids like my last child cost more than all my other 6 together but (and she is past the $20,000.00 mark at age 14), "I" paid every penny, not society. To hell with this social democrat women. She got mark in my book as a psycho!!!

Glenn Beck: MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry part of UN conspiracy to collectivize American children

Conservative radio host Glenn Beck on Monday linked an MSNBC promotional advertisement about public education to conspiracy theories that contend the United Nations plans to use mind control to establish a communist dictatorship and that the Obama administration is using school testing standards for “leftist indoctrination.”

Last week, conservative websites like Newsbusters and the Daily Caller cited MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry’s promo about the need for public education as evidence that liberals intended to usurp parental sovereignty.

“We have never invested as much in public education as we should have, because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children,” Harris-Perry says in the spot. “So part of it is, we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.”

On Monday, The Daily Caller’s Jim Treacher featured the video with the headline, “MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry wants your children.” And the Media Research Center’s snarky headline borrowed a popular Internet meme: “Shorter Melissa Harris-Perry: All Your Kids Are Belong to Us.”

Beck’s The Blaze website noted that the conservative radio host had also featured Harris-Perry’s promo on his Monday radio program, adding that he “referenced Agenda 21, which emphasizes ‘the collective’ over the individual, noting that it’s been branded a conspiracy theory among adults while children are learning about it in school.”

Conservatives have warned that Agenda 21 was a “conspiracy to transform America from the land of the free, to the land of the collective” through “a mind-control technique” called the Delphi technique.

Beck also linked the MSNBC advertisement to Common Core, an initiative to create nationwide testing standards for students.

“This is, I believe, the fulfilment of a couple of things that we said would happen,” Beck explained. “And they have. And they will be dismissed. And you will be made to look like a conspiracy theorist.”

“This is the announcement of where they’re headed,” he insisted. “This is exactly what we warned about, this is the fulfilment of so many things that we have said on this program.”

Beck went on to say that the “battle was on” to defeat Common Core because “it is a loss of parental sovereignty, of state sovereignty and it is also a loss of our children into a grotesque system.”

Last month, Beck suggested that Common Core would help Chinese and Muslims take over the United States.

Watch this video from The Blaze, broadcast April 8, 2013.

Glenn Beck: ‘If You Have Ears to Hear and Eyes to See, Look Into Transformational Education’

By Tiffany Gabbay | The Blaze – 9 hrs ago

As more information comes to light about the controversial public school curriculum systems, CSCOPE and Common Core Standards, parents are concerned that their children are growing increasingly susceptible to the influence of bureaucrats seeking to push a political agenda.

As government seeks to expand its reach and some would argue control over America's youth, some believe that the only way to ensure freedom and autonomy is to step-up conservative ideals of personal responsibility.

On Monday, Glenn Beck dedicated his evening broadcast to discussing these very ideals and how best to identify freedoms that Americans have lost, or are at risk of losing. The segment was catalyzed by a recent statement made by MSNBC host Melissa Harris Perry in which she said, "your kids belong to all of us."

"They knew full well what they were airing," Beck said of NBC. "They are airing an announcement that your kids do not belong to you."

Beck encouraged viewers to learn more about "transformational education," which he called the "lifeblood" of Common Core. "If you have ears to hear and eyes to see, look into transformational education," he added.

To help delve into the matter in greater detail, were special guests Jeff Frazee, President of Young Americans for Liberty, writer James Antle, Alex Smith of the College Republican National Committee, and Jonathan Bydlak of the Coalition to Reduce Spending.

I applaud you Neno - that is what a parent is supposed to do. But you miss the point. The point isn't really about the cost - it's really about the other thing you mentioned; it's about how children are raised. For social democrats, children should be raised with a uniform set of values that have been blessed by the state. This is essential for a smoothly running socialist society. When parents get to influence their children's upbringing, who knows what they will teach them! Remember too that most of these social progressives are athiestic - or at the very least agnostic when it comes to Christianity. Very few of them would consider themselves devout Christians. Many in fact are "religious", but belong to various "alternative" religions, particularly neo-paganism and various eastern philosophies. They are oh so tolerant - except when it comes to Christians whom they view as "believing in a little old white haired man," and "hearing voices in their heads."

From their perspective, you bringing up your children to believe in the Lord is NOT a benefit to society, in fact, just the opposite. So while you might have paid for their upbringing yourself without taking one thin dime from the government, they still are going to be unhappy and would very much like the government to raise your children (or grandchilddren) for the good of society at large; or as they like to put it "for the good of the children."

Besides, I am sure the President would disagree with you and tell you "you didn't do that," citing the roads you drive on or some other thing as proof that without the government you would be a knucle dragging simian our grubbing for worms somewhere.

No surprises here!!! They have been 'indoctrinating' our children 'secretly' in the public school system since at least the 60's if not before!!! The only thing that has changed is that they now feel emboldened to tell you what they are doing or going too!!! The liberals have been spoon feeding the kids at the earliest age possible to move their agenda's forward...with a following that eventually supports all they've grown up believing!!! Wow what a plan!!! Then at the same time the failing public school system...is producing a bunch of robots, many not capable of thinking, reading or writing. Now what have we got...a class of victims, who are dependent on the government for their survival and a bunch of liberal politicians who depend on the them to stay in power and so it goes. It's been going on for a very long time but...this time it's different!!!! We are almost at the tipping point, approximately 50% of the voters/victims are on the receiving end of Santa Claus! I pray that it can be turned around...not very optimistic anymore. God help us!!! :(
