  • Epicentre was near Kumamoto city and measured at a depth of 40 km 
  • Farm Minister Hiroshi Moriyama said 900,000 items will be sent to the area
  • Supply chains and distribution channels mean that shelves stand empty
  • Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said it is a 'race against time' to find survivors
