Shocker! 2016 election email from 'Romney for President'

Message not what would be expected from harsh critic of Trump
    Published: 20 hours ago

Email is everywhere, and about everything, these days. Fundraising, news, public relations announcements, personal message, bulk data dumps and more.

So there was nothing particularly stunning about Friday’s dispatch offering a signup opportunity to send birthday greetings to Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee for president.

Until one read the tagline on who sent it.

“This email was sent by: Romney for President Inc., 138 Conant Street, 2nd Floor, Beverly, MA 01915.”

Isn’t that the Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, who refused to endorse Trump?

The former candidate who warned, “If Donald Trump’s plans were ever implemented, the country would sink into prolonged recession.”

The onetime presidential nominee who said, “What little he has said is enough to know that he would be very bad for American workers and for American families.”

The politician who asked, “And what ever happened to Trump Airlines? How about Trump University? And then there’s Trump Magazine and Trump Vodka and Trump Steaks and Trump Mortgage? A business genius he is not.”

And the one who accused Trump of alarming U.S. allies with his “bombast,” “insulting” Muslims, lacking the “temperament” to be president and stating, “dishonesty is Donald Trump’s hallmark.”

    All yes.

The email was sent to WND, and said, “Friend, Donald Trump’s birthday is right around the corner! Don’t wait until it’s too late – be the first to wish him a happy birthday!”

It included links to a signup page.

Then there was a “thank you” from the NRSC, and the fine print, which said, “Paid for by the NRSC. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee. www.NRSC.org.”

Then there was the additional line:

“This email was sent by: Romney for President Inc., 138 Conant Street, 2nd Floor, Beverly, MA 01915.”

A WND email and telephone call requesting comment from the NRSC did not generate a response on Friday.
