He Couldn’t Remain Silent Any Longer, NATO Commander Comes Forward!

Recently, the liberal media has gotten furious-even going ballistic-with news saying that “Donald Trump has called for NATO allies to pay their fair shares.” Although a controversy has arisen over this latest development, Trump might have secretly gotten himself a new friend.
This new friend and ally would most likely be Army General Curtis Scaparotti, who is also the “supreme allied commander of NATO allied command operations.” Nice job, Mr. Trump!
During an interview last Thursday evening at the Aspen Security Forum, the General supported Trump’s “call for monetary compensation from America’s NATO allies, saying that America shouldn’t be shortchanged for the assistance the country provides.”
During his interview with reporters from the Washington Examiner, Scaparotti told media that “we have a people and a Congress with a tough budget as well. So as a leader you have to put your share into this, you have to do that because when I go back to testify to Congress I get asked these questions.”
It seems as though Donald Trump has expressed the concerns of many Americans who believe America’s current foreign policy has been a failure. On Wednesday, Mr. Trump delivered a statement addressing those concerns, saying ” I think NATO’s great. But it’s got to be modernized, and countries that we’re protecting have to pay what they’re supposed to be paying.”
Scaparotti also stood by this point, and said that “everyone needs to chip in for the alliance to function properly.” He then re stated and emphasized the importance of all NATO members to follow the provisions in Article 5 of the NATO charter.
Article 5 reads:
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all …
Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.
Basically, what this means is that an attack on one NATO member state is an attack on all. But Scaparotti emphasized that this article should be “ironclad” – no ally of the United States should ever question the terms of this article.
He also said that without the required funding, the United States “would not be able to outpace Russia’s modernization.” In the end, the General stated that the United States will do whatever it says it will do.
