Trump’s New Campaign Manager Backtracks on Nominee’s Major Deportation Proposal

    Aug. 21, 2016 12:33pm Jason Howerton

WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) – Donald Trump’s new campaign manager now says it’s still “to be determined” whether Trump will follow through on his previous pledge to create a task force to deport immigrants living in the United States illegally.
Kellyanne Conway was pressed on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday to reconcile Trump’s past call for mass deportations with recent reports he may be open to legalizing at least some of those people.
She said the Republican presidential nominee will release more details on his intentions in the coming weeks.

Conway also told ABC’s “This Week” that she no longer believes Trump needs to release his tax returns.
During the GOP presidential primaries, Conway headed a super political action committee that supported one of Trump’s rivals, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Conway told an interviewer back then that she believed Trump should be more transparent and release his returns.
Trump has claimed he can’t release his tax returns because he’s currently being audited, an assertion disputed by his critics.
Now armed with inside information, Conway said she realizes “that this audit is a serious matter, and he has said when the audit is complete he will release his tax returns.”
Conway also said that as a pollster, she knows what voters really care about is their own tax rates, and she claimed Trump offers a better plan on that than Democrat Hillary Clinton.
