    The
    Trade Ministry said it continues to import cars from Iran, noting at
    the same time it will market those cars and other produced by the State
    company for automotive industry, according to the economic policy.

    Director
    General auto trading company Adnan Jassim Mohammed told reporters, that
    "the company has not prevented import or enter Iranian cars to Iraq",
    saying that it "does not have the power to issue a similar resolution
    that the Council of Ministers".

    Mohammed said that "criticisms of
    specific types of Iranian cars are the ikco samand wesaiba invitations
    to prevent imported is not a technical problem or manufacturing or lack
    of safety standards, but due to the fact that Iranian nationality".

    Mohammed
    said that "the Ministry started to import these cars after a study of
    the Iraqi market, in terms of their relevance and fuel poverty rate of
    15% and 13% unemployment", stressing "the need of low-income people to
    this kind of car."

    Mohammed revealed that "State company for
    automotive industry signed a memorandum of understanding to import
    components and automotive industry, while the State company for cars
    marketed in local markets."

    It was reported late last year, the
    Commerce Ministry will stop 2012 import Iranian cars and imported from
    global origins unknown.

    Iranian cars are imported by the
    Department of Commerce through car trading company affiliate to sell
    alsaipa cars walsmnd walbigo walrino of Iran-made since 2008 over
    branches in a number of provinces.

    The Cabinet decided, in March
    2010, limiting the import of modern cars by General Motors from
    manufacturers or their agents directly from regional without relying on
    intermediaries, also committed resolution betrkin alternative old car
    restrictions (miscarriage) for the acquisition of modern cars from the
    company as of June 2010, to extend the resolution until 31 October 2011.

    The
    General Motors company is the company responsible for importing cars
    and machinery and as an intermediary between the Iraqi private sector
    companies and manufacturers on the import of various types of vehicles,
    machinery and generators from all global origins of American, Japanese,
    Iranian, Chinese and Indian.
