Cruz will campaign for Trump this week

    Kaitlyn Schallhorn November 3, 2016 9:40 am

Once a fervent opponent of the Republican presidential nominee, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will hit the campaign trail for Donald Trump Thursday.
Cruz will appear with Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, in Iowa and Michigan, Pence’s spokesman confirmed via Twitter. Pence is scheduled to appear in Prole, Iowa, and Portage, Michigan.
This will mark the first time that Cruz has publicly campaigned with Pence since he announced that he would vote for his party’s nominee — although he has phone banked for the Republican Party of Texas.
A 2016 Republican presidential hopeful, Cruz fiercely clashed with Trump often on the campaign trail, especially when Trump insulted Cruz’s wife and father.
But the Texas senator buried the 2016 hatchet with Trump in September when he endorsed his former rival. “Our country is in crisis. Hillary Clinton is manifestly unfit to be president, and her policies would harm millions of Americans. And Donald Trump is the only thing standing in her way,” he said at the time.
Cruz infamously declined to endorse Trump at the Republican National Convention over the summer and instead encouraged Republicans to “vote their conscience,” citing the mantra of the Never Trump crowd.
A Cruz spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze.
