    Said MP from the front Reform Firdaus al-Awadi, said Tuesday that according to the Constitution and can not extend the period of the members of the provincial councils and the House of Representatives could pass a resolution to postpone the local elections for reasons of interest to the country.
    Awadi In an interview with "direction Press" confirmed that the postponement of the local elections will provide the country large sums of money in light of the need for that money which will be limited to a single, unified elections, which the House of Representatives and provincial councils, indicating that the operation expenses will decrease dramatically as well as the security efforts that will be on single-phase as well as the instability of the security situation in some provinces which need time to hold the elections in which naturally.
    He added: There is an interest in the postponement of local elections at the present time, the parliament is able to take such a decision and the majority of the House of Representatives are walking in that direction.
    To the detection of a member of the parliamentary legal committee Hassan Shammari said the postponement of provincial elections requires an amendment to Law No. 21 of 2008 amended, noting the absence of any constitutional provision stood against postponed.
    Al-Shammari said in a statement that the Iraqi constitution did not give a specific period of the mandate of the provincial councils as opposed to the House of Representatives, where indicated paragraph IV of Article 122 of the Constitution to the provincial councils, governors and powers of the council elections and Dwaoanha regulated by law governorates not organized the Council of values ​​No. 21 of 2008 amended provincial councils, and postponed depends on an amendment to that law.
    Shammari said that the amendment of that article in the provincial law will give the councils the right to exercise its powers until an election that many political blocs seeking to integrate them with the parliamentary elections scheduled in 2018.
