NFL Power Rankings: Chargers Collapse Continues

The San Diego Chargers continued their collapse on Sunday and a resulting fall in the NFL Power Rankings followed. Once a promising season, the Chargers have dealt with multiple injuries to players and now are dealing with their future in jeopardy.

As the season winds down and the January 15th deadline imposed by the NFL approaches many fans have given up hope for the Bolts. With rumors of an entire re-branding beginning to take shape we could be witnessing the final two games of the San Diego Chargers in NFL history.

Another week of nothing doing in terms of deciding the future of the Chargers, and another losson the heels of a Philip Rivers interception. The franchise quarterback was under intense pressure on the final series against the Raiders, forcing a desperation throw over the middle on fourth-and-15. Is it fourth-and-long for this organization to stay put in San Diego? The irony was drenched in silver and black as Qualcomm Stadium erupted in cheers — after Reggie Nelsonpicked off that football. Yep, it felt like a Raiders home game in that moment. Basically, one California team that appears to have a foot in Las Vegas had half its fan base show up in San Diego to beat another California team (and divisional opponent) that seems ever closer to moving to Los Angeles … where the Raiders used to play.

Is coach Mike McCoy the next to be fired? It could be coming after the season.

    ESPN – 26, Last Week 21 (-5)

The Chargers have already been eliminated from the playoffs, but you’d think that Saturday’s game against the winless Browns is a must-win for San Diego. They can’t let the Browns hang around: San Diego has lost six games in which it held a lead in the fourth quarter this season.

    SPORTS ILLUSTRATED – 27, Last Week 24 (-3)

Every Chargers game is like that video of the golfer lining up a shot off a frozen pond. You know it’s going to be entertaining, but also that something awful is probably going to happen. Can San Diego avoid being Cleveland’s first victim of 2016?
