revealed the Ministry of Water Resources for the total launched from the water quotas to different marsh areas during 2016, quantities exceeding the 4.5 billion cubic meters, attributed the reduction of water releases from the dams, to the wave of recent rains and covered farmland the center and north. The ministry advisor Director of the General Authority for groundwater where the engineer Zafar Abdullah Hussein, said in an exclusive interview with "morning", said the total launched from the water quotas in various marshlands since the month of October of last year and so far, exceeded the quantity of 4.5 billion cubic meters, stressing the keenness of his ministry to release sufficient quantities of water to areas of the marsh.
And it voted the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in the 17th of the month of July to the inclusion of the Iraqi Marshlands, within the World Heritage List, after the great efforts made by the Government in all its ministries concerned.
Hussain added that the government and the marshes after the inclusion within the World Heritage List, formed a committee of concerned ministries for the implementation of the plan for the benefit of those areas, noting that his ministry had carried out a large proportion of the work assigned by the Committee.
In the same vein, said the success of the cadres of his ministry to the maintenance and rehabilitation of a number of sub - areas of rivers and Abu Fertile Jekor in Basra province, indicating that these branches have become for the time being ready for the passage of water quotas to agricultural land within the winter growing season.
And about the impact of rains during the past few days, he spoke in this regard , Deputy National Center for Water Management director in the ministry, Hassan Mahdi al - Saffar special permit for "morning" , stressing that the wave of rains concentrated in the country 's central and northern regions, where he covered all the farmland in those areas within the Tigris and Euphrates, pointing out that the ministry has reduced water releases.
