    Australia denies involvement of killing civilians in Iraq and Syria


    BAGHDAD (Reuters) -

    Ministry denied the Australian Defense on Tuesday that any of its aircraft had been involved with air strikes in the Middle East, specifically Iraq and Syria, killing about 350 civilians since the start of the international coalition operations in the region.

    In a statement, the ministry said "aircraft multi-tasking aircraft (F-18 Hornet) and (Super Hornet) is not responsible for any confirmed deaths among civilians."

    The statement came after coalition forces announced in the Middle East, the possibility that "352 civilians killed at least inadvertently caused by coalition strikes since the start of the process of steel torque."

    On the other hand, and the Australian Department of Defense acknowledged that its aircraft may be involved in two of TBT "credible allegations" of civilian deaths in Iraq in 2014.

    It also reported that it will begin to publish public reports when the use of the Royal Australian Air Force aircraft in combat in an attempt to increase transparency, while it will also publish reports of any allegations about the occurrence of civilian casualties, "she said when they occur."

    The statement added that "the decision was made after realizing the importance of reporting strikes Australian air defense forces in Iraq and Syria to counter the propaganda potential benefits that may be exploited by Daesh and any threat to the safety of members of the force during the operations."

    He continued, "The Ministry of Defense takes all allegations of civilian casualties seriously, and works all members of the Australian Department of Defense under the strict rules of engagement designed to minimize the risk posed to civilians, and to comply with the obligations of Australia under international law."

    The reports will be issued every two weeks, and will include information about any Australian strikes, including detailed summaries of their positions in Syria and Iraq.
