UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash on Saturday reiterated his country's commitment to the unity of Iraq, pointing out that the federal system is a better alternative than separation.
"As the date of the referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan approaches, the UAE affirms the unity of Iraq, a home for all," he said, pointing out that "our experience is evidence of the flexibility of the federal system and its potential."
Gargash called for "dialogue to resolve the crisis between Erbil and Baghdad," stressing that "it is necessary to ensure the unity of Iraqi territory in favor of a region suffering from division and fragmentation."
Gargash pointed out that "the political dialogue can address the concerns and meet the ambitions and create a stronger partnership," adding that "the federal system a better alternative to the issue of separation."
