The head of the government probe Haider al-Abadi on Tuesday to take decisions against the Kurdistan Region against the background of the referendum held yesterday for independence from Iraq.
"The federal government will impose its authority on the Kurdistan Region by the Constitution," Abbadi said in a weekly conference held today after meeting with his government team of ministers, saying that "the federal budget must return to the Iraqi government according to the Constitution."
He added that "we warn of the repercussions of the referendum will harm Kurdistan and Iraq in general," adding that "we will not cherish the dignity of the citizens of the Kurds."
Abadi said that "the Council of Ministers decided to subject the land and air ports in the Kurdistan Region to supervise and control the border crossings," pointing out that the Council "also decided to ban international flights to and from Kurdistan in the event that airports are not subject to the authority of the government."
