    The number of martyrs and wounded in an attack on the building of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Yemeni capital Aden Aden, southwest of the country, to 40 people.
    "The number of victims of the attack on the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department rose to 18 martyrs, including three citizens who happened to be in the place, and 28 wounded," Aden police said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
    Five terrorists were also killed during the process of clearing the security forces of the criminal investigation building in which they were holed up.
    On the details of the attack, the police said in a statement that the operation began with the detonation of a car bomb in front of the gate of the building of the Criminal Investigation Department, before a group of terrorists (did not specify the number) wearing military uniforms, the courtyard of the security headquarters.
    She pointed out that the police had confronted the terrorists, which led them to fortify the criminal investigation building. There, they executed and detained others, including prisoners as human shields.
    Aden police said the security forces besieged the building where the terrorists were holed up before breaking into it in the evening and released eight hostages who had been held inside.
    The police did not give further details on the number of attackers and whether some had been arrested.
