The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell on US stocks, hurt by disappointing earnings forecasts from Pricelin and corporate equity losses as investors worried that a Republicans' plan to cut corporate taxes could be eased.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.FTEU> was up 8.81 points, or 0.04 percent, at 23,557.23. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 0.49 points, or 0.02 percent, at 2,590.64.
The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 18.65 points, or 0.27 percent, to end unofficially at 6767.78.
