    [ltr]British police have arrested two men suspected of plotting to blow up the gates of the British government headquarters in London's Downing Street and the assassination of Prime Minister Teresa Mae.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Two men were arrested on suspicion of plotting to kill May with a bomb in the form of a bag to blow up the gates of the government headquarters and then stabbing the prime minister with knives, the Independent newspaper reported.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The suspects were arrested during raids in London and Birmingham last week and charged with terrorism-related charges. She is due to appear before a court in Westminster on Wednesday, the newspaper said.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The plan was unveiled yesterday by Andrew Parker, head of MI5, according to the Independent.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Sky News, quoting sources, said a "suicide plot of Islamists to assassinate the British prime minister" had been foiled.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The defendants, Na'imur Zakaria Rehman (20 years) from north London, and Mohammed Aqab Omran, 21, of Birmingham.[/ltr]
    [ltr]But Sky News reports that the police believed the plan was to throw a primitive explosive device at the May Downing Street residence and then exploit the resulting chaos to launch an attack and kill the prime minister.[/ltr]
    [ltr]She said the police and the ISI had been following the plan for at least several weeks.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Earlier in the day, a spokesman for May said Britain had foiled nine plots in the past 12 months[/ltr]
