Integrity rejects the proposal to abolish the inspectors' offices
13/12/2017 12:00 am [rtl] BAGHDAD / Tareq al-Araji The head of the Integrity Commission, Dr. Hassan al-Yasiri, said that the committee is against the proposal to abolish the offices of the public inspectors because of its opposition to international conventions, while stressing the need to correct the imbalance in some of them, pointing out that the fight against corruption is not as easy as it was against terrorism. On the sidelines of the celebration held by the Integrity Commission on the occasion of the International Day for Combating Corruption, Al-Yasiri said that the Commission's position against the proposal to abolish the offices of the General Inspectors for several reasons is the most important because it contradicts with the International Convention against Corruption, which requires all countries of the world to establish anti-corruption bodies, Offices of inspectors. He added that the proposal to cancel is not consistent with the calls for combating corruption launched by the government and the Iraqi street and parliament, noting that many of the call for the abolition of offices are not aware of the nature of the work of the Inspector General and the other that some argue that there are some shortcomings in the offices while the Commission recognizes that all state institutions Including the Integrity Commission and other authorities. There is no integrated institution and if there is a defect in a particular institution, it is not a motive for cancellation, but to address the imbalance and this is recommended by the Integrity Commission. "Corruption has become a source of terrorism and terrorism has proven that corruption is fertile ground for terrorism and both feed the other," he said, noting that the fight against terrorism was not as easy as it is against corruption. It is easy and everyone has to stand together to fight them. He stressed that the fight against corruption requires a system of legal deterrent and strict, but this system in Iraq is not enough and does not commensurate with the size and status of corruption, which led the Commission to prepare draft laws and projects prepared pending the legislative role through the legislative authority, warning of the transformation of corruption from Mali to the community, To immunize the society through the educational and educational curricula.
