    [ltr]The Jordanian royal court has warned that it will take legal action against anyone who publishes what he said were lies about the ruling family days after King Abdullah's two brothers were sent to retire from the army.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The king, a close ally of the United States, said on Tuesday that his two brothers Prince Ali, Prince Faisal and his cousin Prince Talal, who held senior positions in the military, had been retired from the armed forces.[/ltr]

    [ltr]The statement added: "What was published recently fabricated news aimed at harming Jordan and its institutions."[/ltr]
    [ltr]A Jordanian military source said the king's move was aimed at striking an example that the ruling Hashemite family was not above the law before an expected move to refer dozens of senior army commanders to retire.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The king, himself a commander of the special forces, said the restructuring plan was aimed at reorganizing the 120,000-strong army by cutting costs, strengthening troop capabilities and providing the requirements for modern warfare against terrorist groups.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The kingdom, which has a border with Iraq in the east and with Syria in the north and with Israel in the west, has survived relative unrest.[/ltr]
