Report: North Korea sent weapons to Syria and Myanmar 20180203_025432-192Report: North Korea sent weapons to Syria and Myanmar

    Follow-up / Sky Press:

A report by UN independent observers said North Korea had violated UN sanctions and seized $ 200 million in 2017 from exports of banned goods and accused Pyongyang of sending weapons to Syria and Myanmar.

North Korea sent coal shipments to ports in countries including Russia, China, South Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam using false papers that showed other countries such as Russia and China as the country of origin of the shipment rather than Korea, the report said. North.

North Korea's mission to the United Nations did not respond to the request to comment on the report. Russia and China have repeatedly said they are applying UN sanctions on North Korea.

Observers in the report said they had achieved existing cooperation in ballistic missiles, including more than 40 shipments not reported from North Korea between 2012 and 2017 to the Center for Studies and Scientific Research of Syria, which oversees the program of chemical weapons of the Syrian regime.

In August 2017, Reuters reported that it had seen a confidential UN report that North Korea had sent two arms shipments to the Jamraya Center in charge of Syria's chemical program since the 1970s.

Dozens of pages of it document North Korea's violations of its sanctions and provide new evidence of the regime's use of chemical weapons in Syria.
