The World Gold Council published in early February a report of 98 countries that revealed the share of these countries of the total gold reserves in the world.
World gold reserves, according to the International Monetary Fund, reached 33,790.8 tons, of which 10,782.1 tons were in the euro zone.
The United States topped the list with a reserve of 8,133.5 tons, followed by Germany with 3,373.6 tons and Italy with 2,451.8 tons.
Russia, which last year increased the purchase of gold, ranked sixth in the world with a reserve on February 1, 1838.8 tons, leaving China's fifth position with a reserve of 1,842.6 tons.
Gold is part of the international reserves, usually composed of foreign exchange, SDRs and IMF reserves.
