President Donald Trump said he would soon decide what action the United States would take in response to a suspected chemical attack on Duma in Syria.
Trump said he was discussing the matter with military commanders and would decide who was responsible for the attack, whether it was the Syrian government, Russia, Iran or all of them.
International condemnation of what happened in Duma has escalated. US Ambassador to the United Nations Nicky Healy warned that Washington would respond to the attack, which Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is responsible for, whether the Security Council acted or not.
The French ambassador to the International Organization said that poison gas was used deliberately.
But the Russian ambassador, Vasily Nibenzia, confirmed in an emergency session storming the Security Council that the Syrian opposition is the one who carried out the attack.
He also called on members of the International Chemical Weapons Control Organization to visit Syria to investigate allegations of a chemical attack in the town of Douma in the eastern Ghouta near Damascus.
In response to the suspected chemical attack, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein condemned the world's major powers and the Security Council, saying that the response to the use of chemical weapons in Syria now and in the past was a collective lie and a failure.
