    (Encyclopedia of this Day News | Iraq News ) - South Korean President-Moon J. held that US President Donald Trump on Sunday talks to ensure the survival of the summit between Washington and Pyongyang on its planned route after North Korea threatened to pull out of them.

    South Korea's presidential office said Mon and Trump had spoken by telephone for about 20 minutes and exchanged views on North Korea's recent actions. 

    The Office gave no further details.

    "The two leaders will work closely and firmly for the success of the summit between North Korea and the United States scheduled for June 12, including a future summit between South Korea and the United States," the presidential office said.

    Moon and Trump are due to meet in Washington on Tuesday before North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met in Tramp in Singapore on June 12.

    Despite hopes of reconciliation at a historic inter-Korean summit in late April, North Korea's rhetoric has changed drastically in recent days.

    North Korea's chief negotiator, Sun Son John, said on Thursday that his country would not hold talks with South Korea unless its demands were met, condemning the annual Max Thunder air exercises between the United States and South Korea. 

    That came a day after the North threatened to withdraw from the summit with the United States.

    A spokesman for the North Korean Red Cross Society on Saturday called for the South Korean government to return North Korean restaurant workers to their country "without delay" to show goodwill in improving inter-Korean relations.

    Some 12 North Korean restaurant workers came to South Korea in 2016 after working in China. 

    She urged North Korea to return them, saying the south had kidnapped them, although Seoul said the workers had decided to split in their free will.
