A member of the Wasit Governorate Council Turki al-Ghunaimawi said on Tuesday that the Iraqi constitution provides for granting provinces with border ports 50% of the revenues of those ports.

Al-Ghunaimawi said in a press statement that "Wassit has a Zerbata border crossing with the Iranian city of Ilam, through which imports are imported from Iran and exported to it." According to the Iraqi constitution, the province has the right to receive 50% This port ".

He added that "the administrative return of these ports back to the Ministry of Finance," noting that "the latter refrain from paying the proportion of the province as defined by the Iraqi constitution."

"The local government of Wasit filed a lawsuit with the Federal Court to decide to release the conservative percentage of those revenues," he said.
