The Iranian parliament begins the process of isolating ministers in a spiritual government
Members of the Iranian parliament have begun measures to isolate the ministers of education and industry in an escalation of pressure on President Hassan Rowhani.
Iranian sources said that "dozens of deputies demanding the removal of the two ministers on charges of economic failure and corruption in the educational system."
On Sunday, Iran's Majlis (parliament) withdrew its confidence from Minister of Economic and Financial Affairs Massoud Karbasian amid severe economic repercussions faced by the Iranian government as US sanctions come back.
Karabasian lost 137 votes to 121, while two abstained, making him the second minister in the government of President Hassan Rowhani to be removed this month.
The 33 deputies signed a request for questioning Karpasian, submitted to the Presidency of the Council, and accuses the Minister of the inability to manage the economy in light of the economic crisis suffocating Iran.
Iran's economy and finance minister has put pressure on President Hassan Rowhani, who has already been criticized by conservatives over his handling of the economy under new US sanctions.
