    This came during a meeting with the special envoy of US President Donald Trump to Iraq, Brett McGuork and his delegation, which also included the US ambassador to Iraq, Douglas Seelman.
    The statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic responded to the twilight news that the meeting reviewed ways to strengthen the relations of cooperation between the two countries and friendly peoples as well as the overall political and security developments in Iraq and the region.
    During the meeting, Masoum expressed his appreciation for the continued support of the United States in various fields.
    He stressed the commitment to invite the Iraqi Council of Representatives elected to convene in the constitutional time announced officially, he pointed to the importance of concerted efforts of Iraqis to address the Iraqi government next to achieve all the legitimate aspirations of the Iraqi people stability and progress and the provision of services.
    For his part, Brett McGurk stressed his country's respect for the will of the Iraqi people, reiterated the support of the United States of America for the stability of Iraq and continue to provide necessary assistance to Iraqis in all fields as part of the strategic agreement between the two countries.
    For his part, Advisor to the President of the Republic Amir Kanani said in a statement today that in the absence of the first meeting, the president is entitled to set a new date in accordance with Article 54 of the Constitution and for one time only and if not held for the second time is the ratification of the election results and call for new elections within 60 Days.
    Kanani pointed out that "there is no validity to postpone the first meeting, which is on time, approved 3-9 in accordance with the Republican decree issued and in accordance with the provisions of Article 54 and Article 73 / IV of the Constitution."
