BAGHDAD / The border crossing authority announced on Wednesday its position on the government's decision to prevent the importation of damaged cars from abroad to Iraq.
"The Chairman of the Board, Kazem Al-Aqabi, met today a group of traders to discuss the decision of the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers No. 435 of 2018 and to prevent the importation of damaged cars (American imports)."
Al-Askabi said that "the traders' requests to intervene to amend or cancel the decision because it touches a large segment of citizens (traders - artisans - those with limited income - and those with special needs), which burdened the shoulders of a large segment of importers, investors and capital, The resolution also overshadowed the reduction of employment opportunities and the activation of professionals and the migration of capital outside Iraq. "
The statement added, "It also included a request by traders to reconsider the calculation of the value of customs cars by adopting the official invoice from the manufacturer and exporter."
For his part, the punishment of the punishment according to the statement "with the presentation of his presentation and his willingness to demand the competent bodies and within the contexts and legal frameworks in force, stressing that the Border Crossing Authority has sought in this matter previously and was delayed implementation of the Economic Commission's decision for several months and they continue in this economic and humanitarian endeavor and the presentation of the subject Importing the affected vehicles to the concerned bodies and according to the jurisdiction.
