(Reuters) - Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi received a telephone call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed enhancing the future cooperation between the two countries and the situation in the region.
Merkel stressed Germany's support for Iraq at all levels, especially in the economic and military fields as well as energy and the contribution of German companies such as Siemens and other German companies in solving the problem of electricity in Iraq and other needs and projects.
For his part, Abdul Mahdi praised Germany's role in understanding Iraq's position on the issue of sanctions against Iran, while Merkel invited Abdul Mahdi to visit Germany.
