    BAGHDAD -
Some Iraqis have begun transferring their financial assets to Iran for fear of US sanctions, a government source said on Saturday.
The source said that "some figures loyal to Iran are currently moving forward, to transfer part of their investments and funds to various regions and banks in Iran, to avoid the sanctions expected against them by the US Treasury."
The source said, "The atmosphere of anticipation and fear controls the figures that follow Iran, and got a lot of money in recent years, by investing in the relationship in the pressure and blackmailing Iraqi institutions, and access to projects and investments are mostly imaginary, and also benefited from large-scale oil smuggling in Nineveh and Basra. "
The source notes that "many of these figures are now aware that they are targeted by the American side, and will later include a new wave of sanctions, and believe that Iran is the only country where their money can be free from US sanctions. Most of the money is exported in various ways, , Because they can not be transferred through official banks. "
"Targeting the US Treasury to four characters from Nineveh (Ahmed al-Jubouri, born in Irqat, Nineveh) marks the beginning of the serious US-Iranian conflict in Iraq, given the Americans' knowledge that Nineveh was increasingly influenced by Iran's groups during and after the war against Organizing a preacher. "
The Central Bank of Iraq, the day before yesterday, a circular to the rest of the banks and financial institutions, on the lack of financial dealings with the four figures listed on what he called international sanctions.
"Your institutions should know the names on the lists (international sanctions) on 17-7-2019," the bank said in its circular.
He added: "If any name has a deal or account with your institutions, it is frozen and prevent any financial deal with the bank, and prevent access to the currency of the dollar, and provide this bank with all bank accounts and any other information of his own.
Dozens of demonstrators demonstrated yesterday in Ninewa to protest against the position of leaders in the "popular crowd" on the US sanctions list and Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi's decision to issue the 30th Brigade of the Ninth Nineveh Squadron.
