    Iraq welcomed the initiative of the United States to conduct bilateral negotiations based on the concepts presented in the strategic framework.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had received a letter from its American counterpart in this regard.

    Minister [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/105644/%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%85%D8%AF %D8%B9%D9%84%D9%8A %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD%D9%83%D9%8A%D9%85]Muhammad Ali al-Hakim said[/url] in a tweet to him, "The State Department received a letter from the US State Department proposing to conduct negotiations based on the concepts presented in the strategic framework and to conduct a comprehensive review on the future of relations in the economic, cultural, trade and security exchanges bilateral and regionally."

    He added: We welcome this initiative and we will set a suitable date for the talks.

    The media office of the Prime Minister said: "Abdel-Mahdi met the American ambassador in Baghdad, Matthew Tooler, who confirmed to the Prime Minister the Washington proposal to specify the negotiating delegation and the date for the start of the talks, which Iraq had previously proposed in multiple messages and meetings."

    He added: "The meeting included discussing common files, including combating the spread of the Corona pandemic, the importance of cooperation and coordination between countries of the world to control the virus, protect lives from the risks of infection, and procedures for forming the new Iraqi government."

    The office of the resigned Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, announced today, Sunday, a US proposal to open a strategic dialogue between the governments of the two countries.

    A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office stated that "the proposal aims to achieve the interests of the two countries in light of the decisions and developments in Iraq and the region," noting that "Iraq welcomed that."

    The statement added that Abdul-Mahdi received the American ambassador in Baghdad, Matthew Tooler, who confirmed to the Prime Minister "Washington's proposal to specify the negotiating delegation and the date for the start of the talks, which was previously proposed by Iraq in multiple messages and meetings."

    The statement pointed out that the two sides discussed "common files", including combating the spread of the Corona pandemic and the importance of cooperation and coordination between the countries of the world to control it, and protect lives from the risks of infection with this virus, in addition to "measures to form the new Iraqi government."
