Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi agreed today, Saturday, with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, to call on all actors in the region to promote calm and to take a path of wisdom and rationality in dealing with crises and challenges.
The media office of the Prime Minister said, in a press statement, that “Al-Kazemi discussed in a telephone conversation today, Saturday, with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the progress of relations between the two countries at various levels,” indicating, “The two parties praised the progress and growth in bilateral relations for the benefit of the two Iraqi people. And the Iranian, as well as the security and stability of the region.
President Rouhani congratulated “the visit of His Holiness the Pope to Iraq, and praised the Iraqi government efforts that resulted in the success of this historic visit.” He condemned, on his part, “all the activities that violate the security of Iraq committed by some groups, and expressed Iran's condemnation of these activities that do not serve the interests of the two countries. Nor is the region’s stability, prosperity and progress of its people.
The statement added, "The two parties also agreed to call on all actors in the region to enhance calm, and to take a path of wisdom and rationality in dealing with crises and challenges."
The two sides expressed "identical views, considering dialogue as the only and best way to solve conflicts and crises in the region."
