On Sunday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee attributed the delay in approving the budget law to the courtesies regarding the region’s share, stressing that the budget will not be passed if there is any neglect of the rights of the central and southern governorates.

A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Hassan al-Janabi, told "the information" that "the discussions about the budget are complete, but what impedes its passage is the region’s share and the Kurds reject all forms of cooperation."

He added that "the budget is supposed to be presented to the vote, but the courtesies to satisfy the Kurds are behind the delay in approval," noting that "any compliments to the Kurds will be at the expense of the shares of the southern provinces."

Al-Janabi explained that "many members of Parliament are determined not to pass the budget at the expense of the southern provinces and their rights, and the Kurds must rationalize and hand over oil imports to the central government."
