Al-Halbousi's office said in a statement, "The Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, received today, Thursday, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, and during the meeting they discussed the overall situation and crises the country is going through, and ways to address them under the current circumstances."
The meeting discussed, according to the statement, "early elections and creating the appropriate atmosphere for conducting free elections that express the will of the citizen and enhance confidence in their results." There was also "discussion of the Federal Budget Law for the fiscal year 2021, and an emphasis on the need to expedite its legislation."
