    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

The Minister of Electricity, Majed Al-Hantoush, revealed the date of the entry into service of the electrical connection between Iraq and the Gulf countries.
Al-Hantoush said in press statements, that he is currently in the process of negotiating the construction of the line from the Al-Zour area inside Kuwait to the Al-Faw area, south of Basra Governorate, with a limit of 300 km.
He added, "We expect at the end of next year to enter the fault, at about 500 megawatts."
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Electricity announced last January that Iraq had completed 80% of its obligations towards the Gulf interconnection. The first phase of the project stipulates that Basra will be supplied with 500 megawatts.
Iraq produces 19 thousand megawatts of electric power, while the actual need exceeds 30 thousand megawatts, according to officials in the electricity sector.
Iraq currently imports between 500 megawatts of electricity from Iran in the winter and 1,200 megawatts in the summer, at a cost of about $ 1.2 billion a year.

    Energy market
Earlier, the ministry’s spokesman, Ahmad Musa, said that “the Gulf liaison work related to the Iraqi side has been completed by 80%, and it is now up to the Gulf side.” Authorizations ”.

He added that "the government recommended the Ministry of Electricity to give official authorization to the Gulf Linkage Authority in order to complete the connection, which will be the lines' paths from inside the Kuwaiti territory and will be independent lines separate from the Kuwaiti electrical system, as the project will connect the two stations of Al-Faw and Al-Zour.
He added that "work is underway to survey the lines' paths and lay the connection points that will be established between Iraq and Jordan," noting that "the project consists of three phases, as the first stage establishes to connect an Iraqi, Jordanian, Egyptian, by transferring 150 megawatts to the western station, and in the second and third stages, it will reach 900 megawatts." “.

He pointed out that "the electrical interconnection projects are not only for the transmission of energy, but Iraq will be a corridor for the transfer of energy to other countries and vice versa, whether it is with the Gulf or with Jordan," explaining that "it may allow Iraq in the future to transfer energy from the sources to the countries of East Asia and may establish an energy market." "Therefore, Iraq will benefit economically."
