Agriculture: The import of tomatoes is closed after 20 days, and we are studying the opening of imports for two other crops
On Saturday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the closure of importing tomatoes after twenty days, while it is considering opening the import of two other crops in a standardized manner due to their high prices .
"The tomato crop will not last long, opening its import, but will close after twenty days at the end of this month, " ministry spokesman Hamid Al-Nayef said .
He added that "the local product of tomatoes will go to the market early next month and will cover the market needs," noting that "the ministry is studying the opening of imports for cucumber and eggplant producers, after their prices have risen in the local markets ."
The local markets witnessed an increase in the prices of foodstuffs, agricultural products, fruits and vegetables after the rise in the dollar prices and the closure of imports.
